Shoppers in Eastbourne raised almost £3,000 for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance in a raffle to win a car, which will be drawn next week (March 31st).

Staff and volunteers for the life-saving charity sold tickets for the Win a Mini Draw at the Arndale Centre earlier this month (3rd to 5th March).

A grand total of £2,734.42 was raised in ticket sales and donations for the charity, which relies almost entirely on public support to keep it flying.

An Eastbourne District General Hospital worker who previously won £25,000 in the charity's Superdraw lottery was among the shoppers who bought a ticket.

James Cook, Head of Lotteries & Gaming, said: "We are extremely grateful to the Arndale Centre for helping us to raise awareness of the charity, and to the public for their fantastic support.

"Each time our crews are called to an incident, the average cost is £2,500 so the fantastic sum raised is enough to fund a potentially life-saving mission."

Tickets for the Win a Mini Draw cost £5 each and can be purchased online at www.raffle.me.uk with the draw taking place on 31st March 2017, making it the perfect prize for the summer months.

The £19,000 convertible Mini Cooper, a brand new model, boasts tyre pressure monitoring, a Thatcham 1 alarm system, ISOFIX child seat system, on-board computer, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth hands free function, USB audio, reversing camera and parking distance sensors.
